2014 Roundup: My 10 Favorite Beauty & Style Experts on Instagram

What is Instagram?

Wikipedia says "Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.^[5] "

I say Instagram is for anyone who is a visual voyeur.  Back in the olden times when you wanted to learn about another culture or see photographs of other places in the world you needed to purchase the latest National Geographic or head to the library and look books up to reference and learn.

With the succession of the world wide web aka the Internet, gaining information about faraway places happens in seconds from anywhere in the world.  Instagram has taken that a step further by adding real time history making through instant imagery captured by everyday users.

I found Instagram 8 months after they launched and have been hooked ever since.  If you aren't already on instagram, and you would love to be a voyeur through someone else's point of view, and you have a smart device, grab the app and begin your journey.

The Instagram accounts that I follow are varied from travel & food photographers, comedians, business gurus, my friends, some artists, and beauty industry professionals.  Each one shares delightful images with me daily.

Makeup & Hair

As a future hairdresser and beauty pro, I like to follow and gleem insight into products and techniques.  The following Instagram accounts are my goto accounts to learn and be inspired by.

@crophairsalon : Crop Hair Salon is a salon located in Greensboro, NC.  I follow them because of the amazing hair they showcase on their instagram account.

@KatelynLutman : is a Canadian instagrammer who shares her beauty looks.  I follow her because she has hooded eyes as do I and I appreciate her gorgeous beauty creations.

@LVGlamduo Is the instagram account of brother and sister Makeup and Hair artists based out of Santa Monica, CA.  They also have the best 15 second tutorials from hair and makeup to even nails.

@gossmakeupartist : I started following brit Wayne Goss on youtube over 3 years ago when I was first learning makeup for my clients and found his channel to be simply amazing!  Now I follow him on instagram as well and enjoy his quotes, images, and quickie tutorials.

@lakeishamichelle : I found Lakeisha on youtube when I was first considering going back to school and entering the world of cosmetology!  She was and still is an inspiration, not to mention and fabulous hair stylist, motivational speaker, and gorgeous singer.

@SaraRuffinCostello: Her website says, "My job has always been to pull the very best of what's out there and surprise people by putting it together in an unexpected way" and then she shares them on instagram.  She also starred in the Target Threshold Commercials and their youtube series sharing her style and entertainment tips.

@anahatakatkin : Anahata Katkin is the founder of the stationary and home decor company PAPAYA!.  I've followed her and her product line almost since its beginning in the early 2000 and ever since she started a blog.  Her bohemian style and her mixed-media artwork enchanting.
